Community Events & Engagement

It’s always been a vital part of our mission to take care of the communities we serve. We are not just a business partner with Sampson County, but also a community partner, making a difference through multiple avenues. The GFL team continues to support the Sampson County community and go the extra mile by engaging with various groups and donating time and funds to various projects!

Attending and sponsoring this event is something we love to do every year to show our continued support for the Town of Roseboro. This year, we entered the parade judging contest with over 80 entries and are proud to announce that we won third place. We recently attended the town hall meeting to receive our trophy alongside other local business winners.
This was a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the community.

On December 12th, Sampson Community College hosted a graduation for 16 heavy equipment operators. These operators received onsite training at the Sampson County Landfill with our staff. Johnathan, Timmy, and Joseph were delighted to attend the ceremony, where Joseph Smith, the General Manager at Sampson County Landfill, spoke with the graduates about career opportunities and the pride GFL takes in sponsoring this program. Joseph also had the opportunity to speak with families and instructors to express our gratitude for providing this training to students. This partnership and the onsite training have already allowed the Sampson County Landfill to hire three of the graduates. We look forward to offering future graduates the same opportunities in 2026, not only for careers at the Sampson County Landfill but across the entire GFL organization.

SCC Heavy Equipment Students Gain Real-World Experience at GFL Landfill

GFL and Sampson County Landfill were proud to partner with Frontline Gardens, a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic gardens for veterans injured in the line of duty. Our GFL volunteers and others were able to come together and build a raised vegetable garden for this disabled veteran and his family. Mr. Muzzy served two tours in Afghanistan and Iraq and was severely injured in a training accident.  GFL was honored to join with the community to both honor the sacrifices Mr. Muzzy made for his country and to provide this garden as part of his ongoing journey.

GFL Volunteers began prepping the wood.

The GFL team is working on the finishing touches on the garden.
