About the Landfill
The Sampson County Landfill (the Landfill), which is currently owned and operated by Sampson County Disposal, LLC, provides essential waste disposal services for the State of North Carolina, and in particular, Southeastern North Carolina. The Landfill has been present in the community since the 1970s, originally as a County-operated facility, and then under Waste Industries (beginning in 2000), and since 2018, as part of GFL Environmental.
The facility is a Subtitle D landfill regulated by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) as well as by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
As a Subtitle D landfill, and pursuant to its permit issued by NCDEQ, it accepts only non-hazardous solid waste. For further information about the categories of waste accepted by the Landfill, please see our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page.
